Democracy in short elaboration
For betterment, for the common and long-term interests. That's:
-First, why those representatives are elected for, and they are there
for in the power.
-Second, those are their roles of obligation.
-Third, those are their morale obligations and equally important,
their role model and positive examples, the transparency and
accountability are of the majority of people's high expectation.
Put themselves into shoes of ordinary people; "serve" to the best of
thoughtfulness and and sense of taking responsibility. Invest in, love
and care "their people of representation" as much and vividly as they
would love and care certain individuals. It's starkly contrast from being
representatives of merely themselves and own groups. The bottom line
is "democracy universally should mean: of the people, by the people and
for the people."
The prominent questions should arise:
-Why should anybody trust you when you leave them in darkness; when
you don't engage them; when information is not open and accessible;
and when transparency and accountability before the public for the common
and long-term interests are highly skeptical?
That's why actually you can see and witness, for instance, UK Parliament,
Ministry of Education, Singapore, Singapore Ministry of Manpower,
Ministry of National Development etc and the openness and access to
information and engagement through official Facebook pages, Youtube,
news outlets, official government websites and even on mobile apps.
And a little bit into Cambodia's politics, the opposition party' s honesty,
its much efforts, and active and open advocacy, its CONCRETE stances
and policies (of course their present and past policies) still remain somewhat
doubtful. For example, the Law on access to information, the Law on premiership
mandate (where? elaboration? advocacy?, their policies in last election
(where? elaboration? advocacy?
That's why it's said that honesty and openness are the best policy. And in
America, there is this on currency note: " IN GOD WE TRUST".
In Remembering Lee Kuan Yew, there is a saying: Love Cannot Be Seen,
Nor Touched But Felt by the Heart! and in case of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew,
they are out there in revelation, in actions and in his and his teams' great
achievements!
What do you think?
